The darling buds of May, with the Dengie countryside in its fresh greenery and blossom sees our annual ‘Ramble’. The aim is to enable charities and individuals to obtain sponsorship for their good causes.
We contribute by working with the Knightswood Day Care Centre to organise the event. Starting at the Creeksea Church and ending there with refreshments, a good number of other charities and individuals enjoy the opportunity to see parts of the Dengie otherwise missed, and make friends along the way.
Following the Annual Ramble 2026. . . . .
The annual Ramble held on the first Saturday of May was great fun. But, as intended, it enabled the participants to raise money for their nominated charities. Indeed, it is estimated that between three and four thousand pounds was donated to various local good causes by the groups taking part, including members of the Rotary Club itself.
On the right are Karis of the Dengie Food Bank with members, Chris Swaffin-Smith and Emma Harding.
They received a warm welcome and given a tour of the facility.
The Food Bank was then presented with an £80 donation which was raised by Rod Eastham and Emma, from sponsorship for walking the ramble.

Pictured with them are Odin, winner of the Best Child Hat, and his sister Aurora, who together raised an amazing £328.75 for their chosen charity, the Ichthyosis Support Group.
Chris and Emma were made to feel very welcome by everyone at the Dengie D-Caf.
After enjoying some crafting activities, they were treated to some delicious homemade cake!
