Helping the Dengie and Beyond

Our members and associated volunteers (“Friends of Rotary”) work together to provide help and assistance of all kinds throughout the Dengie, directly and with other charities to:

  • help young and old with physical and mental needs
  • further education, research, the arts and sport
  • help the disadvantaged and those in need

To do this we organise and promote events and undertake projects to provide practical help or, alternatively, to raise funds so that Club can donate to relevant charities. Events are also arranged to facilitate fund-raising by other charities and community bodies. We organise and manage the events they take part in to generate sponsorship for their own good causes. It’s a virtuous circle involving the whole Dengie.

The help is practical because

  • the grants we make to individuals and organisations can be used by them to meet their immediate needs

but also

  • members get involved personally and use their expertise, experience and time to be there in person to help organise, give advice and, when necessary, sponsor and endorse individuals who need help.

What we do in practice

Looking across the Dengie to serve people and help to improve their lives takes organisation before we can apply our professional skills, expertise and knowledge to make a difference.

There are many projects and activities to get involved in. We therefore organise things so that Members build friendship across the whole Club while taking part in project groups and teams. Members are invited to join all Club-wide meetings and Rotarians are expected to come along as often as they can.

Groups and teams are set up for specific projects, Club services and other work. They meet or liaise separately by agreement among themselves.

We aim to directly raise over £10k annually to partly fulfil our charitable aims. We also do more by direct action and by facilitating other charities to help them raise needed funds.
