A Friend of Rotary is a like-minded person who for one reason or another is not able or ready yet to become a full member but can nevertheless help our work in the community or provide a service to the club. In doing so, a Friend will get to know us and have our friendship too.
In this way, Friends may then encourage the Club to help a local organisation close to their own heart. This could be a charity, a special group of people or a local school, etc.
It’s a virtuous circle.
Membership
Friends of Rotary are adults who:
- are fit and able to contribute meaningfully to the work of our Club;
- add value by helping our fundraising projects or services or contribute in some other practical way.
Friends are invited to attend some Club meetings. Partners of Friends are also invited to our social occasions. Friends’ meals and costs of meetings and social activities are paid at the same rates as members.
There is, of course, a cost associated with membership administration and the annual subscription for a Friend of Rotary in the Club is a nominal £15.
N.B. A Friend is not entitled to the full rights of membership such as voting, nor to attend District, National or International Rotary meetings or meetings of other Rotary clubs.
