December brings the annual Co-Op Trolley Dash which is famed for its fun and seasonal good will. Members and volunteers sell raffle tickets during December and then draw a winner and three runners up.
The lucky winner can then dash round the Burnham Co-Op to fill a trolley with their personal preferences – within a 90 second time limit – hence the ‘dash’. The trolley contents are paid for by the Club which also adds two meat cuts and some alcohol. The value of the basket of foodstuffs and drink usually amounts to around £300 – £400 for the winner.
Second, third and fourth prizes are given in Co-Op vouchers worth £100 down to £25.
The excess of ticket sales over these costs provides us with healthy funds for good causes.
